Well, the time has come to announce the winner of Fanged Mania! First of all, I cannot want to thank all of you guys so, so much for participating. I can’t believe all your awesome support and I’ve definitely found some new blogs to watch! So each of you was entered in a spread sheet and assigned a number for each post you did. Posts were numbered in the order they appeared (or in the order I heard they had been done). I then used random.org to choose a number and fate deemed the writer of the 30th post, Laura from fuonlyonew, to be the winner!

Congratulations, Laura! You've won The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter: The Complete Collection, Captured by Erica Stevens, an awesome Breaking Dawn poster, and an equally awesome Vampire Diaries poster! Shoot me an email at emwheatley@netzero.net with your shipping address!

I will not let my brother suffer the same loss…

Hadassah’s father, the Vampire King, punished her harshly for her choice to love a human. Now her brother, the only person in the world who still matters to her, has fallen for a human girl. Determined to keep the girl safe, the three of them flee from their home in New England and find themselves cornered with their father’s minions closing in. If they want to escape, their only hope may be to join forces with the mortal enemies of their kind…

Be ensnared in this dark tale of enduring love, revenge, and suspense from teenage author, Elisabeth Wheatley.

(The NOOK and paperback editions should be available by the end of the week.) Now, the plan was to have a blog tour starting today, but my tour organizer has been out of touch, so I’m really sorry about that! But if I can’t reschedule, I will be setting up my own tour (ah, the joys of a small publisher) and there will be some awesome giveaways either way. Yay!

Fanged Mania #8: Review: Refugee by Erica Stevens

20130102-221624.jpg

To join in, copy and paste these rules and the above banner into your Fanged Mania post and add your link to this week’s Fanged Mania post at Elisabeth Wheatley’s Blog. Fanged Mania is a Friday meme counting down to the release of Fanged Princess and displaying all things vampire and awesome. Fanged Mania posts can be a review of a vampire book, a quote from the latest Vampire Diaries episode, a showcase of a cool vampire book’s cover, or whatever you like so long as it is vampire related. Don’t forget, participants will be entered in the drawing to win a fanged-abulous prize pack!

20130102-221100.jpg Whispers, rumors, and horror stories abound about The Barrens and the strange creatures that lurk within them. Determined to find the remaining vampires that stood against his father in the war, Braith knows that it’s dangerous to enter the inhospitable land, but that they must if they are to have a chance at gaining allies to help overthrow the king. Though he once knew the powerful vampires that are rumored to reside within The Barrens, he is unsure what to expect if they succeed in finding them. He will do whatever is necessary though to ensure a future for himself and Aria.
Aria is fearful of entering into the land she’s heard nothing but cautionary tales about, but she’s determined to help Braith locate the vampires that may help them with their cause. She is fascinated and amazed by the world they uncover within, one that is unlike anything she has ever seen before. However, the more immersed they become in a world that she doesn’t entirely understand, the more she realizes that it won’t be the war, or even the king that will eventually tear her and Braith apart.
It will be her.

Young Adult/New Adult
Book 3 of 4

First of all, let me say that I am completely, utterly, wholly hooked on this series and that I really, really wouldn’t want to be Caleb right now. I had the audacity to think this morning that I would be able to just read “a little” of this, but now it’s after eleven at night and I’ve just finished.

I am wowed. Every book in this series has wowed me. I concede I thought second book was a bit of a let-down from the first, but this one took the bar right back up there!

In this book, we get more of a backstory on vampire history, more insights into their politics, and explanations as to things such as where the technology went, etc. We also get to see more of a character who is introduced at the end of book 2, Braith’s brother-in-law, Ashby. Despite bad first impressions, I found myself liking his frequent comic relief quite a bit.

This is an awesome book that ends in the mother of all cliffhangers and I CAN. NOT. WAIT. FOR. THE. NEXT. BOOK.

What with all this Twilight craze and people saying they would like to be vampires, I thought I should tout the bitter horn of reality because sometimes it’s fun to be the party pooper. *wicked laugh*

Anyway, here is a movie that all vampire candidates should watch before going through with their conversion. It tells the story of what happens when 95% of Earth’s population becomes vampire and a blood famine ensues. It also follows the somewhat unusual case of a vampire who wants to be human again. Vampires in this movie burn in the sunlight (as in, burst into flames) and turn into creepy mutant monsters if they go without human blood for too long. They are, however, immortal and darn near indestructible. It’s a bit gory, but a pretty good movie overall. (Click the poster to see the movie profile on IMDb)

So can you think of any minuses to becoming a vampire?

So if you have been following my blog for awhile, you have probably heard me ramble on and on and on about how madly in love I am with Erica Steven’s vampire romance The Captive series. Well guess what? The third book releases today! (There is one more book in the series set for release sometime this year.) You know the drill, click the cover to be whisked away to Goodreads!

Today I’d like to share with you guys a teaser from a book I recently read that has a good dose of vampires in it, Ties to the Blood Moon by Robin P. Waldrop. You guys know the drill, click the cover to check it out on Goodreads!

Ties to the Blood Moon

Genevieve is a teenage girl who moves in with her aunt in Alaska after the death of her mother. Soon after her arrival she learns the things she was raised to believe only existed in fairytales are in fact a big part of her history. When it gets to be too much she seeks refuge in the arms of her new boyfriend, William, only to find out he’s not who she thought he was either.

Teaser:

“Luna? Where have you been?” I asked, and then my anger took over. “I almost got killed looking for you. Some kind of giant wolf-like…beast almost had me for dinner.”

Fanged Mania #3: Review: Renegade (The Captive, #2) by Erica Stevens

So for this week’s Fanged Mania post, I am reviewing the second book in Erica Stevens’ THE CAPTIVE series. Oh, and the next book in this series comes out next month!

Renegade (The Captive, #2)

Review:
Like I said, after reading the first book, CAPTURED, I went and immediately snatched up this one. While I did like CAPTURED better, I am still enamored with this series and will continue to stalk the author for news of future releases.

RENEGADE picks up about two months after CAPTURED ends. In that time, Arianna hasn’t been able to get over Braith, even though he deceived her about being engaged. Meanwhile, Braith considers himself to have been betrayed by Arianna and his heartbreak drives him into a vicious madness as he waits for the human girl to be recaptured and made to pay for what she did to him.

After two months of waiting for his brother, Caleb, to obtain Arianna, Braith decides to hunt her down himself. Since Braith let her drink his blood, the two of them are connected and finding her is easy.

But once he finds her, Braith can’t bring himself to drink her veins dry as he had planned. And Arianna falls for the vampire prince all over again. But between Braith’s ruthless father and brother who are determined to crush the rebels; and Arianna’s family who are certain Braith hurt her while she was his blood slave, they may be forced apart just when they’ve found their way back together.

I LOVED this book about 70% through. Up until the end when the stuff about bloodlinks came up and that was a personal, picky thing. Aside from the stuff about bloodlinks, this story fully met the sky-high standard set by the first. I’m now eagerly awaiting the Christmastime release of the third book. ERICA STEVENS, YOU ROCK!!!

Well, this is my first Fanged Mania post and I’m so excited! Well, to start us off, I thought I’d show you guys the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden because it looks like an awesome vacation spot for a vampire. I’ve never been here, but thanks to PBS staying visiting ICEHOTEL is on my Bucket List.

https://i0.wp.com/www.icehotel.com/PageFiles/6140/MainHall_ADG_Photobigben.jpg

Why would it be awesome for our fanged friends? Well, look at these pictures! The place looks like the set for one of The Lord of the Rings movies! (Ignore the pink flamingo in that last photo.) Second, during the winter season, the sunlight wouldn’t be a problem at all. Not mention it’s a FIVE-STAR hotel! Now if only we can get room service to deliver blood…
